About
A faith-and-family festival with a filmmaker's standards
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.ROMANS 8:28
Romans VIII Film Festival is a faith-and-family film, screenplay and stage play festival held in San Antonio, Texas. It exists for storytellers who believe a film can carry conviction and still be excellent - and for audiences who are tired of choosing between the two.
What we program
- Films - features, shorts, documentaries and music videos with a faith, family or redemptive heart.
- Screenplays - features and shorts, judged on craft and marketability as well as mission.
- Stage plays - full-length and one-act, including musicals, with selected scripts read live on stage.
Every entry is read or watched in full. Selections are judged on craft first, with a mission-weighted ranking alongside it, so a beautifully made film with something to say rises to the top.
Where we gather
The 2027 festival takes place in San Antonio, Texas. Venue and dates will be announced soon. Screenings, staged readings, filmmaker Q&As and the awards ceremony all happen under one roof, so you spend the weekend with the people who made the work.
